In 2022, the entire business both in Bulgaria and globally was faced with many challenges, risks, and uncertainties. The telecommunications industry, and CETIN in particular, has not been spared the impact of what is happening around us and the complex economic environment. This has translated into extreme price increases and unpredictable movements in the cost of electricity, severe bottlenecks in supply chains, and inflationary pressures on the prices of materials and services.

Plamen Vichev, CETIN Bulgaria: Our mission is to connect

Data Centers Serdika and Trakia now fully equipped with solar systems
As part of the ESG Strategy of PPF Group and CETIN Group, CETIN Bulgaria has completed the installation of photovoltaic systems on their data centers in Sofia and Plovdiv. The first solar system was integrated back in 2007 due to the effort to decrease diesel consumption, as well as the carbon footprint of the sites. The next step followed in 2010 when all suitable sites without external power supply from the power grid were equipped with cycle batteries and solar panels.

The photovoltaic power plant "Verila" is already in operation
Through the solar park, Electrohold Trade will provide energy for Yettel and CETIN for the next 10 years. The largest solar power plant built in Bulgaria to date, the Verila PV plant (123 MW), was officially commissioned today. It will supply Yettel and CETIN with green energy for the next 10 years after the two parties signed a PPA. This is the largest corporate PPA in Bulgaria to date. It will provide 80% and about 86% of the two companies' total consumption respectively.

CETIN network goes green
Yettel Bulgaria and CETIN Bulgaria have signed a 10-year power purchasing agreement for the supply of electricity from renewable sources with Elektrohold. The electricity will be provided by a 123 MW photovoltaic plant, due to be completed in the spring of 2023. The overall management of the purchase and realization of the supply will be carried out by the leading trader Elektrohold Trade. The company is part of the Electrohold Group, owned by the largest public holding in Bulgaria - Eurohold.
